In a dog-eat-dog world,
It is the dogmatic domain
Of dog lovers
To offer dogdom a dog’s chance
To rise above the dog days
For a doggone good time.

I am passionate about working with dogs.  I have worked in the companion animal industry for 15 years now and have trained hundreds of dogs , actually into the thousands now, through classes I have run over the years, and home consultation visits.

I train the NZ Epilepsy Assist Dogs that are placed with people with epilepsy.  I train the dogs for public access and to assist the owner in any way necessary during and after a seizure.  Ultimately the dogs could exhibit alerting behaviours to let the client know they are about to have a seizure.  I find this work fulfilling and humbling, I am working with some incredibly strong willed and courageous people.

I am priveledged to have been approached recently to train dogs that assist children with autism.  The work they are doing in the States is inspiring.  With my team of wonderful trainers, we can train these dogs to be the very best companion to the child, to paw the child to break repetitive behaviours, and to track the children that have a tendancy to wander.  This is an exciting new challenge that we are embarking on.  I love to be involved in projects that enrich peoples lives and make the most of our canine companions.
For more information on this please see our Autism Assist Dogs Page

Having the opportunity to help people sort out behaviour problems in their homes is rewarding.  I often see dogs out and about that I have worked with and this gives me a great deal of satisfaction to see them as content, well mannered social dogs. I have found that the programmes I put in place are workable in busy family life and achieve results that enrich everyone’s quality of life.  My clients are able to enjoy re training their dogs with positive, fun training methods.

I am an experienced Veterinary nurse and Manage the North Shore After Hours Vet Clinic.  My interest is in  emergency accident & illness, and I feel my knowledge and understanding of canine anatomy and physiology help me in assessing each individual dogs behaviour problems, environmental concerns and whether  there are any underlying health concerns exacerbating the behaviour issues.

I started training with The Canine Club five years ago, over that time I have learnt that there are a million ways to train a dog.  Most importantlyin order to train the dog you first need to train the owner and that is my most favourite part of dog training.

I get to work closely with many interesting people who share the same passion as me, Animals. Every person and dog are different, and I find that through working with different people my training style has developed so that people find me both knowledgeable and easy to relate to.

There are a million ways to train a dog for a particular task, one way won’t work for everyone. My job is to find a way that works for you by using my experience and knowledge of canine behaviour and applying it to everyday situations. In doing so building a better, more understanding  relationship between dog and owner.

I am familiar with the animal industry, I have been involved in dog training not only for The Canine Club but also for the Epilepsy Assistance Dogs and recently the Austism Assistance Dogs.  I am excited to be a part of this initiative as a member of my family is a child living with autism.
I have worked in the pet retail industry on and off for 3 years and I have been
a volunteer Canine Care Intern at the SPCA.

Another passion of mine is the social rehabilitation of dogs, giving the “under dog” a new lease (or should I say leash) on life. I love to help clients that have rescued dogs with behavioural problems, working closely with the owners to make their dog the best dog it can be.

I aspire to become a dog handler for MAF Customs and plan to continue my work with The Canine Club and Assistance Dog Training.  I like to enjoy a variance in my work with dogs, I believe each area I work in aids my understanding and increases my skill base.

Right from a young age, companion animals have been an important part of my life. I am passionate about canine behaviour and helping owners get the rewards of positive reinforcement training.

I am very fortunate to be working alongside Tania as a volunteer helping train the Epilepsy assist dogs. It is very humbling to be working with these dogs and their owners. I find the results we achieve with both the owner and dog very rewarding. Seeing how much these companion dogs help their owners physically and emotionally is really a touching experience.

I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with children with autism. I will be working with the child and their dog within and outside the home. Initially teaching basic commands which will then progress into clicker training for tricks and behaviours. I feel privileged to be a part of creating a life long bond between the children and their canine companions.

I have studied in canine behaviour and have always been passionate about dog training, animal welfare and nutrition. I find the work we do through our classes has a very positive effect on both the owner and the dog. It is fantastic to be working in an environment with like minded passionate people.
I am excited for the future with the canine club. We are all working towards the same goals which are to create a relaxing and calm dog that brings happiness to their owners and families.

I remember the day when my dad bought home our dog, Chester . It was one of the greatest days of my life, seeing his little face look up at me from out of a cardboard box that my dad had placed on the coffee table. All I could think about was how much fun having a dog would be. It doesn’t take long before your dog becomes a beloved member of the family. Of course having a dog also comes with huge responsibilities. One thing I know for sure is that they need regular exercise and training to keep them happy and healthy. Sometimes it is not always possible to find time in today’s busy life to walk your dog everyday. All it takes is 30 minutes around the block and your dog will love you for it.  Let me help you by walking you dog when you can’t. I am 17 years, fit, healthy and responsible……. and love dogs.
